Our Purpose

AWS Community Day Kochi is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media.

Expected Behavior

All conference participants are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct at all conference venues and conference-related social events. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

Be Respectful

  • Treat everyone with respect and consideration
  • Value diverse perspectives and experiences
  • Be mindful of your language and behavior
  • Listen actively and engage constructively

Be Inclusive

  • Welcome newcomers and help them feel included
  • Use inclusive language
  • Be patient with those who may be learning
  • Respect different levels of experience and knowledge

Be Professional

  • Focus on constructive discussions and learning
  • Give credit where credit is due
  • Respect intellectual property and confidentiality
  • Maintain professional standards in all interactions

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our community:

  • Violent threats or language directed against another person
  • Discriminatory jokes and language
  • Posting sexually explicit or violent material
  • Posting (or threatening to post) other people's personally identifying information ("doxing")
  • Personal insults, particularly those using racist or sexist terms
  • Unwelcome sexual attention
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior
  • Repeated harassment of others
  • Disrupting talks, workshops, or other events
  • Inappropriate physical contact without consent
  • Stalking or following
  • Photography or recording without consent

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior from any community member, including sponsors and those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated.

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

If a community member engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:

  • A formal warning
  • Expulsion from the conference without refund
  • Temporary or permanent ban from future events
  • Reporting to appropriate authorities if necessary

Reporting Guidelines

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a conference organizer as soon as possible.

How to Report

  • In Person: Find any conference organizer or volunteer wearing an "Organizer" badge

What to Include in Your Report

  • Your contact information (if you're comfortable sharing)
  • Names of any witnesses
  • When and where the incident occurred
  • Description of what happened
  • Any additional context that might be helpful

All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality. We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all AWS Community Day Kochi spaces, including:

  • Conference venue and all conference events
  • Conference-related social events
  • Online spaces (social media, chat platforms, etc.)
  • One-on-one communications related to the conference
  • Travel to and from the conference venue
